Some of the world’s top thinkers of today visited factory of Imagination, hosted by Lillebaelt Academy of Professional higher Education.
On the 18th of May 2015, some of the world’s greatest innovators, from, among other, NASA and Google were invited to motivate students and staff from the Lillebaelt Academy and a number of specially invited companies, at the first Factory of Imagination held at DOK 5000 at the harbour of Odense.
The students were inspired through the guest speakers’ extensive experience with innovation and the, sometimes, long road from idea to the finished and successful product. The guest speakers were Josh Bongard specialist within evolutionary robotics, Google’s interface designer Morten Just, Todd Reichert and Cameron Robertson – both are human flight pioneers from Aerovelo, Dan Goods visual strategist from NASA and innovation specialist Riwa Harfoush who work for, among others, Pepsi and Nestlé.
Getting advice from innovative role models
Factory of Imagination’s objective is to boost the innovative ideas from students at the Academy and in the entrepreneurial environment that exists in Odense.
– These great minds light the students’ eyes and it raises their level of ambition. When they meet these inspiring minds, it makes them think that the unattainable is possible, says rector at the Academy Jens Mejer Pedersen
The students received lots of great advice from the speakers, they encouraged the students to think big, even though people in their environment will tell them that their idea is so crazy that it cannot be done – ”make the impossible possible”.
– If you want to succeed with a great idea, it is best to live your life as usual. Look at the things you interact with on a daily basis and contemplate, whether there is something that you can do better or improve upon.
That was one of the advice from Google’s interface designer Morten Just, who also encouraged the students to share their ideas with anyone and everyone.
TEDx conference to spread great ideas
The point about sharing great and innovative ideas continued at the first TEDx conference in Odense, hosted by the Lillebaelt Academy of Professional Higher Education in their cafeteria on Munke Mose Allé, two days after Factory of Imagination.
TED talks are organized worldwide and takes place partly as physical events and partly online. The idea is for different people to share the knowledge through presentation of their own ideas. Lillebaelt Academy of Professional Higher Education has secured the rights to host and organize TED talks, and the first was held on the 20th of May 2015 with the participation of Morten Just from Google and Dan Goods from NASA. Students, who had been on a study trip to the USA and worked with idea-development for NASA, presented their projects.
