Influence the development of HL7 standards, which provides different healthcare systems the opportunity to communicate with each other
The kick off meeting for the Danish HL7 (Health Level Seven) Affiliate takes place Wednesday 28th of October 2015, at the organization Danish Standards Foundation in Copenhagen.
The Danish HL7 Affiliate is a forum where healthcare providers and e-health solution vendors can discuss and influence the future communication standards in Danish healthcare. Through the Danish HL7 Affiliate, you gain direct access to HL7 documentation of standards, profiles and implementation guides and you get the opportunity to influence the content of current and future standards.
Chief Consultant Jan Petersen is participating in the forum on behalf of MedCom and explains:
– In Denmark, the electronic communication in healthcare has existed since 1994. Approximately 5.5 million messages are transmitted monthly based on MedCom standards. The technical foundation of this communication is unchanged, which is why a consideration of modernization is relevant. When doing so, modern international standards will have an important role to play. An optimization and modernization of the communication standards, interfaces and profiles will definitely contribute to an optimization of coherent patient courses of treatment across sectors and disciplines in health care and help tie the Danish e-healthcare together.
Development towards international standards
MedCom’s standards have so far relied on older European standards. In an increasingly globalized world, there is a need to focus on global up-to-date standards. In this context the HL7 standard portfolio have a significant role to play. Furthermore, it is widely believed that an open Danish e-Health market is associated with great advantages in terms of supporting international standards.
MedCom’s participation in the Danish HL7 Affiliate also supports MedCom’s existing work with HL7 standards such as the home monitoring standard PHMR (Personal Health Monitoring Report) and the questionnaire standards QRD (Questionnaire Response Document) and QFDD (Questionnaire Form Definition Document).
To provide Danish organizations with the opportunity to participate in and influence the development of international HL7 standards, the Danish Standards Foundation has established the HL7 Affiliate in Denmark.
The new Danish HL7 Affiliate kick-off meeting is being held Wednesday, October 28th 2015 from 10:00 to 14:00 at Danish Standards Foundation, Göteborg Plads 1, 2150 Nordhavn. The meeting is open to all who wish to influence the standardization of HL7 standards within the international cooperation.
Fact: HL7 has more than 2,000 members from around 500 companies, which together represent more than 90% of the information systems serving the health care area.
